Welcome to Centerline Arts Group (CAG)! We are a community of creators interested in providing support and encouragement to aspiring artists. The Centerline studio is a great environment to polish your artistic skills alongside other passionate creators. Feel free to drop in and check it out before joining! We have open studio hours which take place in a relaxed group setting, as well as more structured demonstrations at our monthly meetings.
How did this all get started anyway?
Many years ago, a group of us took Intro to Studio Art with the greatest teacher of all time: Mr. Cooley. He was a respected local artist and a widely loved teacher. Thirteen of us from that class decided to carry on his legacy by promoting art in our local community. We eventually met other like-minded artists and thus the Centerline Arts Group was born!
The Purpose of CAG:
- Raise public awareness and promote art appreciation in our community.
- Encourage and support aspiring artists. This includes high school artists who might be considering art as a career.
- Provide opportunities for local artists to exhibit their work.
- Create a supportive forum for artists to exchange ideas, techniques, and interact openly.
- Provide education with workshops, classes, and demonstrations.
Our regular painting group meets on Monday mornings. Thursday evenings we have our informal open studio hours from 6 - 9. On certain Saturdays the studio will have a live model available for figure drawing.
We organize one or two exhibitions a year. These exhibitions display and sell work by our members. We also have a special volunteer group to help with this (a great opportunity for future art students, if interested email Bianca).
If you are interested in joining, we welcome you! Please read our Membership and F.A.Q. page for more information. Contact us if you have any questions.
